ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE

Vision

Evangelical Restoration Church aims to build a church family where individuals, families, cities, and nations are fully restored in spirit, soul, body, finances, and relationships, and are equipped to restore others.

Mission

To raise disciples of Jesus Christ—people who are life-givers, fully consecrated to Him, coming from different backgrounds and histories, and interconnected by the spirit of family.

Purpose

To evangelize, ensure holistic restoration through healing and deliverance, train, equip, and send out transformed individuals to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of individuals, families, and nations.

Core - Values

Relationship with Jesus Christ

We prioritize fostering and deepening a personal, transformative relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, biblical teachings, and discipleship.

Community Empowerment

We are committed to empowering our community by being agents of positive change, meeting diverse human needs, and reflecting God's love and compassion in action.

Bible Teaching and Discipleship

We are dedicated to teaching and adhering to the truths found in the Bible and equipping individuals to become committed followers of Jesus Christ through discipleship.

MINISTRIES

Bible Teaching and Pastoral Care

Our Bible Teaching and Pastoral Care Program serves as a cornerstone of our ministry, dedicated to deepening our congregation's understanding of the Christian faith. This program offers weekly Bible study groups, Sunday services, children’s Sunday school activities, and one-on-one pastoral counseling sessions. Through these activities, we provide spiritual nourishment, personalized guidance, and pastoral support, helping individuals navigate life's challenges with biblically-based wisdom and care.

Marriage and Family Restoration

The Marriage and Family Restoration Program is designed to strengthen families and support couples facing marital and family challenges. By offering marriage counseling, family therapy, parenting workshops, support groups, and quarterly couples retreats, this program equips participants with the tools and resources they need to build and maintain healthy, thriving relationships. Rooted in biblical principles, these activities promote fulfilling Christian lives and reinforce our commitment to fostering strong, resilient families within our community.

Youth Support

Addressing the critical needs of young people, the Youth Support Program aims to support youth dealing with depression, drug addiction, and dysfunctional family situations. The program includes youth support groups, a drug addiction recovery program, and workshops on mental health awareness and coping strategies. Additionally, family support programs are available to strengthen family dynamics and provide comprehensive support. This initiative seeks to build resilient, healthy lives for youth, grounded in biblical teachings and community support.

Welcome Companion

The Welcome Companion Program is dedicated to assisting first-generation immigrants as they integrate into Canadian society. By pairing newcomers with experienced mentors from the church, this program offers personalized guidance and support to help them navigate employment, legal, and cultural challenges. Support groups and referrals to external resources further enhance the integration process, fostering a sense of community and belonging. This program reflects our commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all members of our society.

History Overview

Apostle Yoshua N. Masasu & Pastor Lydia Masasu

Founders of Evangelical Restoration Church Rwanda

The Evangelical Restoration Church Ottawa was inspired by the profound vision of its founding partner, the Evangelical Restoration Church Rwanda, established by Apostle Yoshua N. Masasu and Lydia Masasu. This vision is encapsulated in the mission:

"To raise an Army of Disciples of Jesus Christ who are life givers, fully consecrated to Jesus Christ, coming from different backgrounds and with different history, interconnected by the spirit of family, restored, trained, equipped, and sent, who have resolved to make known Jesus Christ as Lord and King in their lives, families and in all Nations in this generation."

The origins of this vision are deeply rooted in the tragic aftermath of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, a period marked by immense suffering and a desperate need for spiritual and emotional healing. During this time, Rwanda was reminiscent of the valley of dry bones described in Ezekiel 37:1-10, which was revived into a vast army through the power of God's word and the holy Spirit. In response to this devastation, Apostle Yoshua N. Masasu received divine instruction to establish a church that would act as a family for those who had lost everything, providing the love and support akin to that of a father, mother, sister, and brother. This church aimed to mend broken hearts and restore lives, preparing its members to become devoted disciples of Jesus Christ, wholly dedicated to His service.

The mission began shortly after the genocide with a pivotal journey to Rwanda led by Apostle Masasu and a team from the Jerusalem Ministry. This mission's purpose was twofold: to deliver a message of hope and renewal to the new authorities in Kigali and to lay the groundwork for what would evolve into a transformative movement. This movement began in Rwanda and has since extended its reach globally, including the partnership with the Evangelical Restoration Church Ottawa, continuing the legacy of healing, restoration, and discipleship.
